Liquid Trucking’s New Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Liquid Trucking is excited to welcome Martin Leon as our new Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager. With nearly 20 years of safety experience under his belt, Martin is stepping into this newly created role to ensure our team stays safe, compliant, and confident in their work environment. Martin’s safety journey began in 2003 and has spanned industries, most recently at Omaha Steaks, where he developed a deep understanding of safety practices and OSHA standards. His decision to join Liquid Trucking wasn’t about leaving something behind—it was about embracing a new challenge. “I wasn’t dissatisfied with my last role,” Martin says. “I just saw this opportunity, and I had to try it. I was excited about the chance to take on something new.”

A Passion for Safety
Martin brings a safety-first mindset everywhere he goes—literally. “Even when I’m not at work, I’m looking for hazards,” he laughs. “Restaurants, movie theaters—you name it. I can’t turn it off.” His approach to safety at Liquid Trucking will be thorough and hands-on. With processes like tank cleaning, confined space work, and chemical handling, Martin has already built a priority list of initiatives to strengthen the company’s already strong safety culture.

A Memorable Hollywood Moment
While at Omaha Steaks, Martin had a unique brush with fame when the movie Downsizing (starring Matt Damon) filmed at the company’s facilities. He was unexpectedly asked to give a safety briefing to the film crew—a moment he recalls with humor and pride. “I wasn’t in any of the shots,” Martin says. “But I did see Matt Damon—and I got to do what I love: keep people safe.”

Family & Creative Hobbies
Martin has been married for 30 years and is a proud father of two daughters—one in Alaska, married to an Air Force member, and the other living in Council Bluffs, working with adults with special needs. Outside of safety, Martin is passionate about woodturning, a hobby-turned-side-business that lets him create everything from pens and bowls to snowmen and Christmas ornaments. “I love working with my hands,” he says. “Woodturning can be dangerous, but it’s rewarding. And safety gear is just as important in my shop as it is on the job.”

Looking Ahead at Liquid Trucking
As Martin settles into his role, his focus is clear: protecting people. “The health and safety of employees will always come first. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment so everyone feels confident coming to work each day.” With Martin’s leadership, Liquid Trucking is ready to take safety to the next level—ensuring our drivers and staff stay protected while keeping the company moving forward. Please welcome Martin to the Liquid Trucking team!
