Today, we’re spotlighting Jared Hovendick! Jared joined Liquid Trucking in May 2021 as the 2nd Shift Lead Technician in the Truck Shop.
Before Jared joined our team, he studied Diesel Mechanics at Northeast Community College, worked at Cummins in Omaha, and did some commercial construction work for some time as well. He missed working on trucks and eventually came across Liquid Trucking. The company seemed like a good fit after talking with Nick and Casey, so he decided to give it a shot — which he is now happy that he did!
As a Technician, it is his responsibility to make sure the trucks are working properly. On any given day, he could be running diagnostics to pinpoint problems, inspecting trucks, repairing and replacing parts, and completing routine maintenance. All in all, it’s his goal to keep the drivers happy and comfortable, which means taking good care of the trucks in the shop.
Diesel mechanics isn’t an easy job. You have to be prepared for breakdowns and problem-solving at any given time. One of the hardest parts of being the 2nd Shift Lead Technician is that he’s on-call at night and is in charge of finding a mobile service technician. As you can imagine, it’s not easy always easy finding a service technician that is willing to do repairs at 2 A.M.
Jared hopes to continue learning about diesel mechanics and eventually move to a management role. When he’s not working, he enjoys reading and longboarding.
