The traditions of the Fourth of July date back to the 18th century and the American Revolution. On July 2nd, 1776 the Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and two days later delegates from the 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. From that day on, the United States has offered us a lot of great freedom — like choosing where we live, travel, and work. For those of us who choose trucking as our profession, we experience freedom while on the road in many ways. Let’s discuss…

Freedom While on the Road

  • Finances

    • As a truck driver, no college degree is needed. Instead, you’ll need to take a commercial driver’s license training course. The perk — no large amount of debt like most college graduates and a (practically) guaranteed job that is well paid. As a first-year driver at Liquid Trucking, you can earn between $74,000 and $78,000. In addition to the competitive pay, you’ll have access to full benefits, great bonuses, and weekly home time.
  • Flexibility

    • Trucking is not your typical 9 to 5, Monday through Friday kind of job. Most truck drivers are given a time frame for when a load needs to be delivered, but they have the freedom and flexibility to create their own driving schedule. Time management skills are needed to be able to successfully utilize time and to plan ahead. Depending on the carrier, some drivers may get to choose where they want to haul whether that’s local, regional, or national. However, driving does come with its limits as drivers need to use their electronic logging device to report their hours of service to adhere to rules and regulations.
  • Job Security

    • At the end of 2018, the American Trucking Association reported that the industry was in need of over 60,000 drivers and that number is expected to grow. While that statistic may be discouraging to some, it can be seen as a job opportunity for others. The trucking industry hauls over 70 percent of the nation’s freight, which means that it’s an essential job to our economy and it’s not going anywhere any time soon. With that in mind, trucking offers extra job security that many other industries cannot compete with.
  • Travel

    • Traveling gets expensive and most people can’t afford to travel when it comes down to it. But with truck driving, you get the opportunity to travel to places that you never thought you would… while getting paid. As you make regional or national deliveries, you can visit interest points along the way as long as you’ve made time for it in your schedule. Many drivers will tell you that there is no better way to see the country than behind the wheel of a truck. At Liquid Trucking, we have made deliveries in the lower 48 states and parts of Canada!
