At Liquid Trucking, we know that great teams start with great leaders. That’s why we’re thrilled to welcome Ryan Liewer as the new Service Manager at our Barto South Sioux City Terminal! With a wealth of experience in fleet maintenance and management, Ryan is ready to elevate operations and ensure Barto runs with the same excellence as our flagship location in Plattsmouth.
A Strong Start with Liquid Trucking
Ryan officially joined Liquid Trucking on January 6th, but he didn’t jump straight into his new role. Instead, he spent his first month training in Plattsmouth, gaining firsthand experience with our processes, expectations, and company culture. “I’m loving it so far. Liquid Trucking is the kind of company that trains you well. Not all companies do that. Here, there are no questions about how they want things done—it’s all laid out clearly. The training is excellent,” Ryan shares. Now settled into his position at Barto, he’s overseeing trucks, trailers, maintenance, scheduling, and tires, ensuring everything operates efficiently.
A Career Built on Experience
Ryan comes to Liquid Trucking with a diverse background in mechanical and fleet management. Before joining our team, he spent time working on water well development, but his real passion is managing shops and keeping fleets road-ready. Prior to his work in water wells, Ryan was the shop manager at Sapp Bros in West Point, where he gained invaluable experience managing large-scale truck maintenance. With his technical expertise and leadership skills, he’s more than ready to take on the challenges at Barto. So why did Ryan choose Liquid Trucking? “I live in Pender, so Barto is a close drive for me. It’s a great opportunity to work with a company that’s growing and values its employees.”
Building Barto to Match Plattsmouth’s Excellence
Ryan’s vision is clear—he wants to elevate the Barto Terminal to meet the high standards already set in Plattsmouth. “My goal is to make both locations operate at the same level. Barto is smaller, handling about 50 of our 225 trucks, but that doesn’t mean we can’t achieve the same excellence.” Ryan also sees major growth potential in Liquid Trucking’s rail depot expansion. He recognizes that more rail capacity means more trucks, a larger shop, and greater opportunities for the company to thrive. “This expansion will open up more gates for the company. More growth means more trucks, and eventually, a bigger shop. It’s an exciting time to be here,” Ryan explains.
A Family That Loves the Outdoors
Ryan’s dedication to hard work isn’t just limited to the shop—he and his family are active, adventurous, and love the great outdoors. His son Riley (24) is a truck driver based in Wayne, Nebraska, following in his father’s footsteps in the transportation industry. His 19-year-old daughter is a talented artist with a passion for painting and will soon be studying at Chadron State College. Ryan’s wife is a high school English teacher in Oakley, Kansas, finishing out the school year before joining him in Pender. Once they’re all together, the Liewers enjoy hunting waterfowl and geese, fishing, and hiking in the Black Hills.
Welcome to the Liquid Trucking Family, Ryan!
We’re excited to have Ryan on board and look forward to seeing his impact on the Barto South Sioux City Terminal. With his leadership, experience, and dedication, we know he’ll help take the shop to the next level. Please join us in welcoming Ryan Liewer to the team!
