Safety is Liquid Trucking’s top priority, and we are committed to providing a safe work environment for our employees and drivers. Our safety consultant, Doug Fletcher with Fletcher Safety Consulting, brings over 35 years of safety experience to our team. He has helped develop our safety program, identify hazards, and facilitate important conversations.

Liquid Trucking’s Partnership with Doug Fletcher

Liquid Trucking has worked with Doug for one year now, and we have been very happy with how he has helped move our safety program forward. Prior to becoming a personal safety consultant, Doug worked for OSHA for 20 years. With that past work experience, he has extensive knowledge of safety hazards associated with trucking and workplaces.

As LT’s consultant, he visits our Plattsmouth and South Sioux City locations once a month. While there, he does an audit and risk assessment of the wash bay, truck shop, and trailer shop. He looks for safety hazards and identifies opportunities to improve. As a company, we’re committed to doing well, so we take the time to correct his suggestions and invest in actions that will improve our environment. Doug also sits down with our crews to talk about safety. Instead of the traditional, generic safety speeches, his goal is to make each conversation personal and relevant to Liquid Trucking specifically. He encourages employees to get involved by having them share their input and their experiences. Many of our employees will tell you that while these conversations are about a serious matter, Doug finds a way to make safety engaging and fun. The partnership that we’ve built has made it enjoyable for everyone involved.

Safety Program Topics

Over the last year, we have learned a lot from Doug and have been able to improve our safety program. A few topics that we’ve covered from his visits are:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Confined Space Entry Training
  • Chemical Safety and Storage

“What’s the Hazard” Podcast and Video Series

In addition to safety consulting, Doug also has a podcast and video series called “What’s the Hazard.” Over the years, he has gained so much valuable knowledge that he wanted to be able to share that with safety professionals. Each episode focuses on important safety topics, like compliance, training, and leadership, and he invites guest speakers from the safety community to share their insights as well. He hopes that these podcasts and videos can help mentor others within the workplace, safety, and health realm.
