What is tanker trucking?
Tanker trucking is the transportation of bulk liquid products. Transportation can be within the same state, another state, or even across the country. At Liquid Trucking, we deliver to all 48 continental states, but most of our work takes place in the midwest. Our drivers haul liquid materials like food, fertilizers, and chemicals for these deliveries.
What to expect as a tanker driver?
Home Time
As a tanker truck driver, you can expect to be away from home for 5.5 days at a time. Our drivers are guaranteed a 34-hour reset between each week of work, and sometimes you get more time off depending on your home location. We work hard to ensure that all drivers get home every week to spend time with their loved ones and get their much-deserved rest.
Hourly Pay
At Liquid Trucking, we understand that trucking involves a lot more than just driving a truck, so we pay by the hour (not the mile). Drivers are responsible for live loading, live unloading, and the oversight of their tanker washout. It’s important you are paid for ALL of that time. We find that an hourly pay system allows us to pay our drivers for their valuable time more accurately.
Weekly Pay
You just put in a hard week of work; luckily, you don’t have to wait around to see the benefit of it! All drivers get paid weekly on Fridays. So whether you’re home with your family or on the road, you can rest assured that your paycheck will be direct-deposited into your account on time.
Driving in All Conditions
Since you will be driving different routes, you need to be prepared for all weather conditions. You never know when you’ll face snow, ice, rain, wind, and heat, so you must feel comfortable and confident when dealing with these conditions and make safe decisions on when it’s time to pull over and wait until it is safe to operate again.
Additionally, your routes will take you through various types of terrain, so get ready for mountain roads, city streets, and everything in between!
Traveling to New Places
One of the best parts about being a tanker trucker is that you get to see new places. You’ll be surprised at how much there is to see, even in the middle of nowhere. If you like traveling and the freedom of the open road, you’ll enjoy this job!
