For the last few months, we have been going over numerous Frequently Asked Questions we get from drivers. We’ve covered topics like pay, home time, equipment, and about the company in general. Today, we’ll be going over what to expect when behind the wheel. Without further ado, here’s what you need to know…

FAQ about What to Expect When Behind the Wheel

Which areas of the country do drivers deliver to?

Drivers deliver coast to coast, but the majority of our deliveries are in the central United States with a heavy focus on agriculture communities.

What states does the company operate in the most?

We have a high freight volume in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, and Missouri.

What is the average mileage of a load?

This can vary greatly, but a good average would be 250-350 miles. It’s essential to note that we pay our drivers by the hour and not the miles, so chasing miles is not as crucial in earning a great living.

Are drivers responsible for unloading their trucks?

Yes, drivers are responsible for monitoring loading and unloading as well as the setup process. We do have a lot of customers that will load or unload the trailer for the drivers, but they’re still responsible for monitoring that process for safety.

How long do loads take to get offloaded on average?

The average load, unload, and tank wash is between 1-2 hours each.

What kinds of liquid does the company haul?

A lot of the products we transport are agriculture-based. We also carry food-grade and hazmat loads, but we do not haul gasoline or dairy products.

What are the delivery expectations?

All drivers are expected to complete each load as they are assigned to them. We work hard to meet the needs of each driver when it comes to hometime, family emergencies, or scheduled times off.

How old do you have to be to drive for Liquid Trucking?

Our drivers have to be a minimum age of 23.

Do we have owner-operator positions?

No, we are a fleet of company drivers only.
